Man charged with murder after 11 killed in Vancouver vehicle attack | World Newsnews24

A man has been charged with multiple counts of murder after eleven people, including a five-year-old child, were killed in a vehicle attack in Vancouver.

The British Columbia Prosecution Service said that Kai-Ji Adam Lo, 30, has been charged with eight counts of second degree murder.

It added that more charges were possible. Investigators have ruled out terrorism as a motive and said Lo had a history of mental health issues.

Prosecutors said Lo, a resident of Vancouver, appeared in court on Sunday and remains in custody.

Vancouver Police previously said a man drove into a large group of people at the Lapu Lapu Day Block Party – named after a national hero of the Philippines – near 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street at around 8.14pm local time on Saturday.

Footage posted on social media showed victims and debris strewn across a long stretch of road, with several people lying immobile on the ground.

A black Audi SUV with a crumpled front section could be seen in photos from the scene.
