Brydon Carse has replaced Gus Atkinson for England’s second T20 against India, with Jamie Smith added to the squad.
Atkinson had a torrid two overs as England were hammered in their seven-wicked defeat to India in the first T20, which cost his side 38 runs.
Even with the bat, he could only muster two runs off 13 deliveries and his poor performance has seen him dropped for fellow seamer Carse for Saturday’s match.
Smith could make his T20 international debut in Chennai after Jacob Bethell missed training due to illness.
The 24-year-old impressed last summer in his maiden international Test against West India and will replace Bethell, should he continue to feel unwell.
England team to face India in second T20: Ben Duckett, Phil Salt (wicketkeeper), Jos Buttler (captain), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell/Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.
