Three-time world champion Mark Williams needed oxygen at a snooker exhibition in Tibet after being affected by the high altitude.

Lhasa, where the Winter Plateau Snooker Challenge is being played, is 11,998 feet above sea level.

Williams, 49, posted a photo on social media of him wearing nasal tubes but said: “I’m fine, I’m not sick”.

The Welshman has won 26 ranking events in his career, including the UK Championship twice and British Open three times, with his most recent coming in April 2024 when he beat Ronnie O’Sullivan to win the Tour Championship.

Williams won the non-ranking Champion of Champions in November and is set to play Ding Junhui in the opening round of The Masters at Alexandra Palace on Monday January 13.
