2024 NFL odds: Will Saquon Barkley best single-season rushing record?news24

Before Sunday, only eight times in NFL history had a running back racked up over 2,000 rushing yards and only once has a running back gone over 2,100 rushing yards.

As of Monday, one of those statistics has changed.

Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley has 2,005 rushing yards on the season, marking the ninth instance of a player crossing the 2,000-yard mark.

Will he now become the second player to go over 2,100, and eclipse the record of 2,105 in the process?

That record was set by Eric Dickerson back in 1984, and the player that came closest was Adrian Peterson in 2012, when he finished with 2,097 rushing yards.

DraftKings Sportsbook has odds for Barkley to eclipse Dickerson, and he’s currently at -230 to achieve the feat.

Assuming he plays in Week 18, all he needs is 101 rushing yards to take over the all-time record. Eleven times this season he’s rushed for over 101 yards.

Barkley leads the league in rushing yards (2,005) and also has the most carries in football (345).
