Protester tasered as Donald Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene’s town hall descends into chaos | US Newsnews24

One protester was tasered and three people arrested when a town hall hosted by hard-right Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene descended into chaos.

The controversial representative from Georgia – who has ignored requests from her own congressional leaders not to hold town hall events – was repeatedly interrupted as a number of people were escorted out by police.

Footage showed one person being tasered at the side of the venue in Acworth, Georgia, as Ms Taylor Greene said: “This is a town hall. This should not have to happen.”

As the taser was fired, some members of the 150-strong audience cheered.

A staunch ally of Donald Trump, Ms Taylor Greene accused the Democrats of being behind the interruptions without providing any evidence, while telling audience members who called out to “go”.

The force by the police came despite no one approaching Ms Taylor Greene at the front of the hall.

Sgt Eric Mistretta said officers had responded with appropriate force to people who yelled at Ms Taylor Greene and resisted removal.

Acworth police said they arrested two men, aged 40 and 45, and a 28-year-old woman.

When she faced any hostile questions, Ms Taylor Greene accused people of being Democrats and dismissed them as “brainwashed”.

Some spectators were peacefully escorted from the event – but Ms Taylor Greene also dismissed challenges from others over the controversial tariffs imposed by Mr Trump.

She flatly denied the economic consensus that tariffs are likely to lead to higher prices.

One protester held up a sign alleging Ms Taylor Greene profited from buying stocks when Mr Trump partially paused tariffs against many countries last week.

Sky reporter told ‘go back to your own country’

In questions from reporters after the event, Ms Taylor Greene did not specifically deny having advance knowledge of the pause – but said a financial adviser manages her stock holdings without input from her.

“He did a great job. He bought the dip,” she said.

Last month, Ms Taylor Greene snapped at a Sky reporter over the accidental leaking of sensitive text messages concerning US airstrikes – and told her to “go back to your country”.
